The Cyber Skills Development team works with the academic community and private sector educators to build cyber security talent and capacity in Canada by:

  • aligning cyber career paths with the needs of the labour market
  • supporting the development of cyber skills in the academic sector
  • promoting the integration of cyber security curriculum in Canada’s education system
  • supporting cyber security career development initiatives, events and education campaigns with GC departments and academia

Cyber security curriculum review

Cyber security skills are in short supply around the world. Many Canadian academic institutions have recognized this shortage and are launching new cyber security programs and courses. The Cyber Centre is working with post-secondary institutions to improve the quality of cyber security education across Canada. Our cyber security experts can provide practical and technical guidance on your school’s existing or new cyber security program and courses.

623 - Introduction to cyber security for educators course

This self-paced, free online course will provide foundational cyber security knowledge to help educators gain the necessary knowledge, skills, and confidence to protect themselves and their students in cyberspace. This course also examines the characteristics of a safe online learning environment, the career streams that exist in the field of cyber security, and the many resources that exist to help educators teach cyber security to their students.

Keep Canada Safe! Discover Careers in Cyber Security ChatterHigh Course

ChatterHigh is a digital learning tool for students to learn more about life after high school. This course from the Communications Security Establishment (CSE) and the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security (Cyber Centre) connects cyber security careers with its mission to safeguard Canadians from the everchanging cyber threat landscape, while introducing students to the cyber security concepts.

This course is available through ChatterHigh, and is free for all Canadian teachers and students.
