Microsoft security advisory – July 2021 monthly rollup

On 13 July 2021 Microsoft published Security Updates to address vulnerabilities in multiple products. Included were critical updates for the following:

  • Windows 7, 8.1, RT 8.1 and 10
  • Windows Server version 20H2 and version 2004
  • Windows Server 2008, 2008 R2, 2012, 2012 R2, 2016 and 2019
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2013, 2016 and 2019
  • Microsoft Malware Protection Engine

Exploitation of some of these vulnerabilities could allow an actor to execute code remotely.

Of note, Microsoft has indicated that exploitation has been detected for the following vulnerabilities: CVE-2021-31979, CVE-2021-34448 and CVE-2021-33771. These vulnerabilities could be used to escalate privileges or corrupt memory.

The Cyber Centre encourages users and administrators to review the provided web links and apply the necessary updates.
